We manufacture locally and install with our own crew, so one company carries the site measure, the shop drawings, the build and the fit. For a builder that is one phone number when a date moves.
Any shop can cut and case a box. What a builder is buying is a date that holds and a finish that passes a walkthrough without a deficiency list. Cabinetry sits near the end of the schedule, so when it slips there is nowhere left to absorb it, and every trade behind it feels the change.
Two things decide whether a cabinetry package hurts a build: shop drawing turnaround, and how the fabricator behaves when the site is not ready. Both are worth asking about before award rather than after.
We site measure before anything is cut, not from the drawing set alone, because the room that gets built is rarely the room that was drawn. Where a dimension has moved we say so at the drawing stage rather than building the problem and handing you a deficiency.
Shop drawings come back with the fixing and blocking details on them, and we will tell you which walls need backing before the drywall goes on. That one item is the most common reason wall hung casework arrives on site with nothing to fasten to.
When a date moves, we would rather hold the delivery and fit the week the site is genuinely ready than drop cabinetry into a house that is still being painted.
Late appliance selections. Cabinet layout is set by appliance dimensions, so a model changed after the drawings are approved is a rebuild rather than an adjustment.
Backing that nobody owned. Where the blocking requirement lives only in the millwork drawings and never reaches the framer, the wall closes without it.
Changes after the design freeze. A change on the drawings costs close to nothing. The same change after fabrication costs material and time.
Site readiness assumed rather than confirmed. Floors not levelled, walls not final, no lock up. The install crew stands down and the date moves again.
Send the drawing set and the finish schedule. We will come back with the questions the set does not answer yet, which is usually where the money is hiding, and a range before anyone asks you to commit.
If you are pricing a package across several shops, ask each of them the same two questions: what is your first shop drawing turnaround from award, and where in this set do you see coordination problems. The answers tell you more than the number does.
We work with builders and general contractors across Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, St. Albert, Sherwood Park and Leduc.
Send the drawings and the finish schedule. We will come back with a range and the questions worth resolving first.
